O Pico Ruivo, no concelho de Santana (abrange as freguesias da Ilha e do Faial) na ilha da Madeira, é, com os seus 1862 metros de altitude, a terceira montanha mais alta de Portugal (depois do Pico, nos Açores, e da Serra da Estrela, em Portugal Continental), e a mais alta do arquipélago da Madeira.

O Pico Ruivo apresenta uma das mais belas panorâmicas sobre a ilha da Madeira para aqueles que aceitam o desafio de caminhar até ao topo. 

Poderá fazê-lo de duas formas. 

A forma mais simples será através da Achada do Teixeira (PR1.2), um percurso seguro e relativamente fácil. 

Os que procuram um desafio maior poderão efectuar um dos percursos mais icónicos da ilha: a Vereda do Pico do Areeiro - Pico Ruivo (PR1).

With its 1862 meters of altitude, it is the third highest mountain in Portugal (after Pico, in the Azores, and Serra da Estrela, in mainland Portugal), and the highest in the archipelago of Madeira.

Pico Ruivo presents one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Madeira Island for those who accept the challenge of walking to the top.

You have two options to reach its top.

The simplest way will be through Achada do Teixeira (PR1.2), a safe and relatively easy route.

Those looking for a bigger challenge will be able to take one of the most iconic routes on the island: the Vereda do Pico do Areeiro - Pico Ruivo (PR1).
